Dr. Brendan Ch’ng (he/him) is currently an Independent Scholar based near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He received his PhD in educational psychology from University of Malaya in Malaysia where he has dedicated his research journey to investigating the underlying mechanisms that support the psychological well-being of individuals with sensory-processing sensitivity.

Brendan’s academic background is a unique blend that makes it both intriguing and fascinating, with an undergraduate degree majoring in psychology and international studies complemented by a master’s in gifted education. His research interests broadly encompass areas of educational psychology, environmental sensitivity, well-being, gifted education, and higher education. Brendan has also been a member of the COVIDiSTRESS consortium, one of the world’s largest consortia of researchers for investigating the psychological, social, and behavioural consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global population. He looks forward to continuing his research in the realm of academia and hopes to enhance representation from Southeast Asia in psychological and educational research with Malaysia’s rich tapestry of ethnic and cultural diversity.
